The Habitat Company recently shared the amazing news about Hubbard Place’s very successful first year in the River North neighborhood. Before Matt Fiascone, president of The Habitat Company, shares his state of the market outlook at Illinois Real Estate Journal’s Apartment Summit on March 10th, we wanted to share a couple of cool facts about him with you:
What being President of Habitat means: Together with our leadership team, I oversee the operations of our businesses and guide the strategy for the future growth opportunities of the company
What sets Habitat apart from the rest: Three primary things: Experience, Commitment and Reputation. Our team members bring not only many years of experience, but a breadth that not many other companies have. From public housing to market rate apartments, we have experts who can manage issues that are both common across all businesses as well as tailored to each. Our residents, clients and partners get the benefit of that every day. We all share a commitment to provide the best management services possible to of our residents. Keeping in mind above everything else; it’s their home. Finally, The Habitat Company has a reputation of excellence spanning more than 40 years. Living up to that reputation is our responsibility and making it even better is our goal.
Working on anything exciting: There is literally something new every day. Currently we are focusing on a development opportunity outside of Chicago (can’t name specific market) and a couple of opportunities to expand our property management business into new markets. We also have a large group working on recommendations for McClurg Court—one of our newest assignments.
Most memorable project: I was fortunate to join the company as the final plans were being put together for Hubbard Place. Getting to see it come together “brick by brick” and seeing what it is today has been amazing.
First CRE job: The Inland Real Estate Group in 1986.
Greatest advice ever received: Success happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Greatest advice ever given: I don’t know if it’s advice as much as an observation, but I have told many people that I am constantly amazed at how fast life passes by. At the same time, it is impossible to remember that fact when you’re in the middle of either difficult times or happy times.
Bucket list: See the Masters golf tournament in person. Also, South American vacation—specifically Argentina
Daily habit: I read at least one or two newspapers every day and workout 3-4 times per week.
Family facts: Wife Karen (28 years), son Austin (23), daughter Regan (21) live in Hinsdale.
Interesting fact about yourself: When I went to college (Bradley University), my plan was to become a radio personality. Ended up studying economics and the rest is history.
