Principle Construction Corp. adds Mackintosh and Barrett to team

Principle Construction is pleased to announce that Andrew Mackintosh and Nathaniel Barrett have joined its team as senior project manager and associate project estimator, respectively. The two new team members will help Principle with its ongoing projects as well as in the constantly growing pipeline of new projects.

In his new role, Mackintosh will work with clients on a variety of design-build projects from pre-construction to closeout. He brings more than nine years of experience to the Principle team. He will work closely with other members of the Principle team on the Winpak and Airport Road projects, as well as several projects currently in preconstruction.

Prior to joining Principle, Mackintosh worked as a senior project manager for JLL Project & Development Services’ Industrial team, where he assisted clients in planning and executing complex projects. During his time at JLL, he worked on projects for The Hershey Company, United Airlines, and ABB. He has also worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron (now McDermott International, Inc.), where he managed projects in Texas, Utah and Georgia.  He has extensive experience with pre-construction development, vendor sourcing and procurement, contract development and negotiation, design and construction oversight, budget and schedule management, stakeholder relations, and closeout execution.

Mackintosh holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a focus on construction management and structural design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also an Eagle Scout and has been OSHA Certified. When he’s not working, Mackintosh enjoys hiking, traveling, snow and water sports, and cooking.

Barrett previously worked at Empire Construction, where he managed construction projects at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and gained experience in general contracting and carpentry estimating.

He holds an associate degree in architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  He also worked as a tutor for fourth grade bilingual students in Champaign while earning his degree. He currently resides in Chicago but is a Humboldt Park native. Barrett’s hobbies include creating music, caring for his two pet bearded dragons, and puzzle games including the Rubik’s cube, which he can solve in under a minute.
