Tarlton Corp., a St. Louis-based general contracting and construction management firm, has completed the renovation of the historic building at 700 Market St. in downtown St. Louis for The Koman Group and The Laclede Group.
The Laclede Group has moved into the 130,000-square-foot six-story structure that is one of the younger buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1979, architect Philip Johnson was named the inaugural winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize for his design of the building, which had been vacant since 2004 before its redevelopment as 700 Market, which began in late April of 2014.
Working with Koman and HOK, architect for the core and shell, Tarlton’s scope of work included demolition and renovation of interior areas for common corridor, restrooms and circulation spaces to accommodate a Class A office space; replacement of major mechanical and electrical equipment; renovation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems; elevator work; specialty metal refinishing; cleaning and restoration of the exterior façade; and painting.
