ActiveCampaign, a marketing software company, has signed a 50,000-square-foot lease at 1 North Dearborn Street in Chicago’s Loop, in addition to the 65,000 square feet that the firm has occupied since 2017. Having doubled its workforce to approximately 500 employees in the past few years, ActiveCampaign now occupies space on the fourth and fifth floors of the Beacon Capital Partners-owned building.
“We are a quiet company that is scaling up under the radar in Chicago,” CEO Jason VandeBoom said to Crain’s, who first reported the expansion. “We’re an example of having hyper growth, but sustaining it from a customer base that’s demanding it.”
Following the 940,000-square-foot building’s anchor tenant, Chicago Public Schools, ActiveCampaign is now the second-largest tenant at the property. Other tenants include market research firm Euromonitor International, troubled flower delivery service FTD and logistics software company FourKites, from which ActiveCampaign has been subleasing around 15,000 square feet.
Since buying the building in October 2015 for $203 million, Beacon Capital Partners has completed a total overhaul of the turn-of-the-century property designed by Holabird and Roche. In keeping with today’s tenant demands, the firm added a state-of-the-art fitness center, an indoor lounge that doubles as private event space and the outdoor deck.
