A new pair of 14-story apartment towers are set to be constructed at the corner of Wells and Harrison Streets in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood. The new mid-rise structure will be known as Alta Grand Central, a rental property developed by the Chicago office of Wood Partners, a national multifamily development company.
Walsh Construction is the general contractor slated to build the 346-unit residence designed by Pappageorge Haymes Partners. Alta Grand Central will span across 368,000-square-feet and is expected to be complete in 2020.
Wood Partners, Pappageorge Haymes Partners and Walsh Construction recently completed Alta Roosevelt, a 33-story apartment tower, which is also in the South Loop just to the south of the Alta Grand Central site.
Alta Grand Central joins the list of Walsh Construction’s current work in Chicago that includes the 60-story Wolf Point East residential high-rise, a 47-story residential high-rise named The Paragon Chicago and the renovation of the old Cook County Hospital building.
