Noah Birk and Aaron Sklar of Chicago multifamily brokerage Kiser Group sold 66 buildings for the year of 2022. With the goal to close a building per week in 2023, the Birk | Sklar team is hitting the ground running. They finished off the year with 20 additional buildings in escrow.
With the challenge of rising interest rates throughout the year, the Birk | Sklar team had to be prepared for anything. “Problems don’t ruin deals but surprises can, and the huge increase in rates came as a surprise to many,” Birk said.
The constant changes in the lending environment forced brokers to be more nimble in their approach and creative in their thinking, according to Birk. “The importance of being able to anticipate potential obstacles weeks/months in advance and create a plan around those obstacles was paramount in 2022,” said Birk.
