E-commerce giant Amazon is reportedly looking to locate a last mile fulfillment center at 2420 S. Halsted Street in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. At 112,000 square feet, the warehouse would be significantly smaller than the million-square-foot-plus facilities that the company typically occupies.
As first reported by Crain’s, Amazon would take the entirety of a new building planned for the site by Prologis. Features are to include 11 truck loading docks and 449 parking spaces. Once Amazon moves in, the property could employ 200 people or more.
Last month, Amazon announced that it would build two robotic fulfillment centers in Chicago’s south suburbs, one in Markham and another in Matteson. Seefried Industrial Properties is constructing those two facilities, which will be approximately 850,000 square feet in size.
