Residents of Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood, community leaders, and small business owners gathered August 4 to celebrate the grand opening of Wells Fargo’s newest branch, marking a significant investment in one of Chicago’s most historic neighborhoods just days before the 97th Annual Bud Billiken® Parade & Back-to-School Festival.
The community celebration featured an official ribbon cutting, a high-energy performance by the Bud Billiken P.A.L. Golden Knights Drill Team and the announcement of a $1.5 million Neighborhood Growth Grants program that will support Chicago small businesses, including those in Bronzeville.
Administered by Allies for Community Business, the program will help entrepreneurs invest in their businesses, create jobs and strengthen neighborhood commercial corridors. Wells Fargo also presented a $4,000 community investment to the Golden Knights Drill Team in support of its youth leadership and development programs.
“Today is a special milestone for those of us who spent the last year meeting community leaders, business owners, and residents who care deeply about this neighborhood, and we are honored to be part of its future,” said Daniel Hoke, Wells Fargo’s Business Growth Strategy Executive. “We hope this branch becomes a welcoming place where people can build financial confidence and pursue opportunities that strengthen the community for years to come.”
The new Bronzeville branch includes a HOPE Inside center, where Operation HOPE financial coaches provide free financial education, one-on-one coaching and business planning support to community members and entrepreneurs, regardless of whether they are Wells Fargo customers.
The grand opening underscored Wells Fargo’s ongoing commitment to economic opportunity, financial empowerment and community investment while celebrating a shared partnership with the Bud Billiken Parade, one of Chicago’s most enduring traditions.
